Completed in 2015, this gateway project transforms a well-trafficked overpass in a strategic downtown San Jose location (Highway 87 and Santa Clara Street).
The Santa Clara Street project, Sensing You, includes a mural covering the columns and “underside” of the overpass as well as LED lighting elements. The project also includes sensors that cause the artwork to react based on the volume of pedestrian traffic. What’s more, in partnership with Google’s Niantic Lab augmented reality game Ingress, game participants will be able to interact with the artwork on a personal basis.
CH Reynolds Electrical Construction division is responsible for the electrical design and installation of the LED lighting.
