JULY Random Acts of Kindness Month

Oh goodness! Not another blog about how to be a better [fill in the blank= ___________  ]
friend, spouse, worker, child, parent…human!

As if you need another reminder to: look up, look around, put the electronics  away, smile, listen more, be patient, let someone come into your lane/ your life, your thoughts…etc.  You get the picture.

But, here’s the thing:  Think about a moment, a gesture or a word that happened to YOU recently and makes you feel good to this day just thinking about it. Can you go right to that memory? Does it feel good? Wouldn’t it be awesome to generate that exact same feeling towards someone else? Maybe (especially) a complete stranger?

The old adage: Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, is completely wrong.  And we all know it; words are some of the world’s most powerful weapons.  Weapons that can be used for amazingly good purpose as well! Wield your words with a kind intent and watch what happens.

An act of kindness doesn’t have to be a tangible gift, or cause you to deplete your own resources of money and time.  A word, perhaps a string of them, with the sweetest of inflections, can dip right into someone’s heart and resonate.  That tiny verbal seed will hopefully grow, blooming into a fruitful plant that gives to others along the path of life.

Really, a word or words, thoughtfully extended to another on the human journey can and will make an incredible difference.  Try it right now, today.  Maybe even every day.  Be the one others look to when they need a dose of kindness and a compassionate ear.

Oh no!  Did I just remind you to be better?  Gosh, I’m so sorry! Please accept my humble apologies. Did I tell you how nice you look today?
